Day 3 - Osmington Bay

We awoke to rain but that didn't stop us!  Everybody got wet today anyway as it was raft building day!  We have some great footage of hilarious attempts of building a raft for 10 children using surf boards, water barrels and lots of rope!  Needless to say, once afloat, unfortunately they didn't meet the children's expectations and every child ended up in the mini lake!  Life jackets and yellow helmets were bobbing around in the water.  We must admit, it was great entertainment for those of us on dry land!!

Luckily the weather picked up after lunch and it was quite warm this afternoon, which helped to start the drying process of the sodden shoes and clothing.

Some of the children showed off their cycling proficiency skills today on mountain bikes!  And Mrs V joined in too!  The team "Sparticus" girls (Ellie, Katherine, Libby and Megan G) won the final cycling game!

One of the favourite activities today was archery and some children scored bullseyes - including Zofeyah, Haydn, Archie, Tommy, Shannon, Georgina, Jade, Luke, Thomas W, Libby and Ellie.  The star archer of the day was Thomas H who hit 2 bullseyes!  By the way, the apples on offer at breakfast were far too small to be used for archery, so we reluctantly left them behind!

It has been interesting for us to observe the team building and leadership skills of some of the children and we have had a few nice surprises, which makes the residential for Year 6 children at this time of the year really worthwhile.

Thanks for the tip about the Smugglers Inn Roger, we will look out for it tomorrow when we go to the beach!  It sounds like Crondall had better weather than us today, so we hope its our turn tomorrow!

Everyone is healthy and happy and getting on well with each other. The three of us are very much looking forward to a cold glass of something when we get home on Friday night!  Keep those posts coming!

  13. Sounds like a fantastic trip.

So, so far Georgie is superb with a sword and dangerous with a Bow and arrow, you are either training her up to be a History reenactor or an assassin! So please no knife skills or martial arts in the next few days - I fear for my safety...and no rock hurling on the beach today either.

And Georgie, Dad says "hey.... guess what?"

  14. By the way were there any Police at the beach today? Apparently there was a crime WAVE!

And remember you are all friends not Anemones!

Weather here is lovely so I hope its been good for you all as well. I'm afraid I haven't had the chance to re-decorate your room, so it's your choice if you want to return home tomorrow.
