Hi all,
We arrived at 3pm, having enjoyed a stop on the way at Avon Heath Park for lunch and a run around. We are very happy with our rooms, which overlook the bay. The wind has been howling madly most of the afternoon and this evening there is a definite chill in the sea air!! We were happy, however, that the sun was shining all afternoon.
It was hysterical watching the children 'trying' to put their duvet covers on! Some were experts and have clearly done this kind of thing before - others struggled to know which end to start with!! It was all about team work! Mrs Moores and I were then given special guided tours of each dorm, and they proudly displayed their stuffed toys and pjs on their completed beds.
The food went down well - all enjoyed lasagne or fish fingers with a choice of chips (yes they forced themselves to eat chips!), peas, carrots, etc andf there is a good salad bar with bread rolls too. It was lovely for Megan G as the entire dining hall sang 'Happy Birthday' to her as she was presented with her birthday cake - imagine 700 children singing at once - most of whom were complete strangers to her!
Everyone is happy - no real signs of homesickness yet, but the night is young!! Rosie, Sarah and I feel like we've been here for a week already so Friday seems a long way off right now, although we know it will fly by - in a good way!
Tomorrow we have activities such as quad biking, fencing, trampolining, climbing, catwalk (not the modelling kind!) and problem solving so we shall have lots to tell you tomorrow!
Please post some comments and we'll read them out to the children - they will love it! If you see any other Yr6 parents please let them know we are writing this blog every day - only 8 parents have signed up so far!
Sleep well and don't worry about your darlings - they're FINE!!
